WALTERS, David Ward

Plane was a Lockheed Hudson A16-19 shot down in the Pacific and crashing into a Japanese landing barge causing it to sink in the Gulf of Siam. No. 1 Sqd. RAAF was the first Sqd. ordered into the air to mount sorties against the Japanese invasion fleet and therefore the first RAAF Squadron to go into action in the war in the Pacific. This was one hour before the attack on Pearl Harbour. The crew of A16-94 were all lost with no known graves. They are remembered on the Singapore Memorial.
