WHITTENBURY, Mervyn Thomas

Previous Service A.A.P.C 17 Tank Regt. Mervyn was posted to the famous 460 Squadron RAAF flying Lancasters. He flew on raids to Stuttgart, Nuremburg and Cologne. His last raid was the oil plant at Gelsenkirchen where they were attacked by German night fighters and shot down and killed. All 7 crew of Lancaster Mk.1- ME785 were lost.
