Previous service 29th Battn.A.M.F. Plane was an Airspeed Oxford which was flying from RAAF East Sale and crashed on the rocky outcrop in Bass Strait, 80 km south of Wlisons Promontory. The four crew were killed. The Deal Island crash features in a poem in A Town at War-Sale 1939-45 published in 2015 by Marcus Hill.
