Plane was a Beaufort A9-317 of 14 Sqd. Which took off from Busselton Airfield in Western Australia to carry out a patrol from Busselton to D'Entrecastreaux Point and then to Pearce. No word was heard from the plane and it was presumed the Beaufort had crashed into the sea. Five crew were lost.
