Plane was a Beaufort A9-305 from 1 OTU East Sale Vic. which took off from Mount Gambier on the final leg of a training exercise on return to East Sale. The aircraft crashed and burned at Puralka 18 miles East of Mount Gambier on the Victorian side of the border. All three crew were killed.
