BATES, Bernard Samuel

Previous service 35th Fortress Co. Plane was a Lockheed Hudson A16-67 which took off from Namlea, Boeroe Island, Dutch East Indies together with another Hudson to attack Japanese invasion force ships at the island of Celebes. Ahead of them were another three Hudsons of No. 2 Sqd. on the same operation. The aircraft were attacked by Japanese Zero fighters and A16-17 of the 13th Sqd disappeared, no wreckage was ever found.
