Irvine Green did his basic training at 1 WAGS before being posted to the RAAF Photography course at Fairbairn RAAF Station Canberra. Irvine passed the six weeks of photo school [13 November to 12 December 1941 with a Special Distinction. Irvine was then posted to Port Moresby , his role involving photo reconnaissance of Japanese movements in the area. A book "A Mouse at Moresby" by Irvine and Tony Green gives a first hand account of a WW2 RAAF Photographer in New Guinea.
