POW German - Held Stalag Luft VI & Stalag 357 POW number 530 RTA. Date: 22 Sep 43 Aircraft: Halifax II HX154 Unit 102 Sqdn Airfield /Crash Location , Germany Details -Took off 1846 22 Sept 1943 from Pocklington UK. During the course of the operation the constant speed unit controlling the starboard inner engine failed and the aircraft crashed. AUS 409637 Flt/Sgt (later W/O) Frank WINDMILL RAAF, passed away on the Gold Coast on 1st July, 2004, aged 84 (Frank was a member of the "Caterpillar Club").
