POW Japanese - Died Solomon Islands 7/8/1943 See 2005 Addendum. Plane was a Catalina A24-43 which crashed on the Solomon Islands whilst dropping stores. Later 3 airmen were identified and buried by members of the RAAF. F/Off Twist and 6 other crew were eventually taken prisoner by the Japanese. Twist and 4 others were killed by their captors. 2 evaded capture and survived.
