CROMPTON, George William Sergio

Plane was a Wellington 1C HX580 which took off from Gibraltar for Luqa but failed to arrive. This was a 458 Sqd. aircraft and crew en route to the Middle East. The plane was shot down by German fighters- four crew became POWs and Crompton as the tail gunner was severely wounded in the action and died.
