Previous srvice 7th Heavy Brigade. Plane was a Lancaster PD259 which took off from the RAF base Waddington on a cross country training flight. The weather was low cloud but visability was deemed good. The plane crashed into a gentle slope of the Monadhliath Mountains east of Kingussie, Inverness after a steep dive. Seven crew were killed.
