MATTINGLEY, Albert Frank
Albert Mattingley trained as a pilot at No.7 Elementary Flying Training School at Western Junction Aerodrome Tasmania on the 4 February 1943. On the 20 May 1943 Albert was posted to No.1 Bombing Air Gunners School Evans Head NSW Course 33. Albert was posted to the UK and served as a Gunner to the 463 Squadron RAAF flying heavy bomber Lancaster aircraft. On the 22 May 1944 on a bombing operation to Duisburg Germany the Lancaster ME580 was shot down with the loss of all 7 Crew. Son of Albert Charles Hubert and Alberta Florence Mattingley, of Palmyra, Western Australia. Epitaph TRANQUIL YOU LIE. . . YOUR MEMORY HALLOWED IN THE LAND YOU LOVED .
